Luna Park Chalk Art Festival: A Celebration of Art and Community

The 17th annual Luna Park Chalk Art Festival was a vibrant event that brought together artists of all ages and skill levels.

A Community-Focused Event

Hosted at San Jose's Backesto Park, the festival attracted thousands of spectators and participants. Youth art groups from various schools, including Lincoln High School and Trace Elementary School, contributed to the colorful murals.

Beyond the artistic creations, the festival raised funds for youth art programs in underserved schools. The Luna Park Arts Foundation offers grants to participating schools to support arts education.

Inspiring Creativity and Community Engagement

The festival fosters creativity and community engagement. Artists of all levels can share their passion and connect with others.

Audrey Genrich, a student artist, highlights the inclusive atmosphere of the festival: "This festival is very inclusive to different levels of artists, because if you're not that good, this is a place where you can still express yourself with art and you can also see these amazing, masterful art pieces by professionals."

Cheryl Renshaw, a featured artist, emphasizes the importance of interaction between artists and viewers: "Here, people can talk to the artists and see how they do things. It's a very approachable event."

A Celebration of Art and Community

The Luna Park Chalk Art Festival is a valuable event that promotes art education, supports youth programs, and fosters a sense of community.
